The project involved a full-fit refurbishment and bespoke bespoke metalwork/interior-joinery contract for the newly redesigned Pavilions Member Club in Kensington — a high-end, contemporary restaurant, delicatessen, bar, and florist outlet designed to serve club members and discerning public clientele. Working alongside the interior design team DesignLSM, we were commissioned to manufacture and install a range of bespoke elements that deliver a unique, premium aesthetic tailored to the client’s vision.
Client Brief & Objectives
The client requested a refined, sophisticated interior that balances luxury materials with functional design — suitable for fine dining, retail delicatessen/bakery, and florist display.
Key objectives included:
A bespoke champagne bar with premium materials for a luxurious, high-end finish.
Custom entrances and doors to give a sense of exclusivity and elegance upon arrival.
Furniture, fittings and display units robust enough for commercial use, yet styled to match the design scheme.
A cohesive design language across all areas — bar, restaurant, deli, florist — despite their different functions.
Our Approach & Work Delivered
To meet these objectives we delivered a comprehensive suite of custom-made metalwork, joinery, and design-led fittings, including:
A champagne bar unit — crafted with Marquina marble surfaces, accented with brass inlays, and topped with a beautifully profiled pewter countertop. This combination of materials created a striking visual impact while ensuring durability for commercial service. CDC Engineering
A brass wine gantry and illuminated glass pillars — providing a sophisticated wine display area, with integrated lighting to enhance ambiance and showcase wine collections elegantly. CDC Engineering
Restaurant tabletops — custom fabricated to match the overall aesthetic and withstand everyday use in a busy hospitality environment. CDC Engineering
Florist shelving units and display fittings — designed to present floral arrangements attractively, while maintaining robustness and ease of use. CDC Engineering
Bespoke entrance doors — welcoming brass doors with an “antique-earth” finish, complete with matching architrave and signage. These doors set the tone immediately upon entry, offering an elegant transition from street to club interior. CDC Engineering
Throughout the project, we collaborated closely with the design team, ensuring high precision and finishing standards — combining craftsmanship with the client’s aesthetic direction and practical needs.
Challenges & Solutions
Material & finish coordination: Achieving consistency between different premium materials (marble, brass, pewter, glass) across multiple furniture and fixture types — we overcame this by rigorous pre-production mockups and finishing protocols to ensure uniformity.
Functional vs aesthetic balance: Ensuring that decorative elements (like brass inlays or glass pillars) were not only visually striking but also sufficiently robust and practical for heavy use in hospitality settings. We achieved this by selecting industrial-grade fabrication techniques and materials, reinforcing structural elements behind the scenes while keeping surfaces elegant.
Tight tolerances & site constraints: Given the multiple functional zones (bar, deli, kitchen, florist) and the bespoke nature of each item, strict planning, coordination with other trades, and precise measuring/installations were required — which we managed with careful scheduling and close on-site collaboration.
Outcome & Client Benefits
A fully bespoke interior that stands out — combining luxury, functionality, and durability — ideal for a high-end member’s club in central London.
A cohesive design aesthetic across all areas (bar, restaurant, deli, florist), offering a unified brand/experience for the client’s members and visitors.
Robust, high-quality fittings and fixtures built to withstand heavy commercial use while maintaining premium finish and style — reducing long-term maintenance and ensuring longevity.
Delivered in a way that respected design intent and added value through craftsmanship, helping the client position the club as exclusive, elegant, and high-end.
